PERTH COURIER
By Ian Gray
Former Perth And District Collegiate Institute students who are now employees of Crain and Schooley Insurance Brokers Ltd. and Financial Corp. returned to their school last week for the presentation of a donation made for improvements at the school.
PDCI athletic director Kevin Bellamy accepted a $5,000 cheque from Richard Schooley, the first of five annual instalments of $5,000 committed to the school by the local company.
Crain and Schooley made the financial commitment as part of the Education Through Sports program, The playing field behind PDCI has been named Crain & Schooley Field for the next five years in recognition of the donation.
A major part of the Education Through Sports program is the rejuvenation of the school's athletic campus, a five year project that will see more than $100,000 invested.
With the recent well-publicized success of three PDCI graduates in the Olympic Games, enlisting community financial and volunteer support for the program was made easier.
“The everyday success of Crain and Schooley in their professional and family lives, the success of our community, all reflect the collective community commitment and investment to provide health, education and social opportunity for our children and youth,” said Schooley.
“We are pleased to be able to supplement the community effort with this donation.”
Crain and Schooley employs 17 former PDCI students and two current students as part-time staff members.
