Ownership History
The Late Glenn H. Crain (1934-2008)
|
| |
As past Chairman of the Board of Crain & Schooley, Mr. Crain had been in the insurance business since 1953. He began as a partner of Mr. Bob Echlin and the business grew from there.
An ever-increasing number of clients and businesses in the Perth area did not deter the business from growing in other ways. In 1966 the insurance operation incorporated the insurance agency operated by the late Jack Rogers, and in 1967 the two largest Insurance Agencies in Perth at that time, Glenn H. Crain Ltd. and Earl L. Darou & Company Ltd. merged. In 1972 the business of Mrs. Vera Stedman was also acquired.
The Insurance operations have always had a significant presence in the North end of Frontenac County, particularly the Sharbot Lake area, where Glenn was raised and educated. This involvement was intensified in 1983 with the purchase of the business of Mrs. Jean Love and in 1986 the business of Byron Wing.
Glenn H. Crain Real Estate Ltd. expanded in 1984 with the opening of our third branch office in Smith Falls.
Mr. Crain retired from Crain & Schooley in 2006, and passed away in 2008.
